Defense Briefing runs on trust. We collect the minimum information needed to deliver the briefing: your email address, an optional first name and the interest topics you select. We never sell, rent or trade your information. Sponsors and advertisers never receive our subscriber list. You can unsubscribe with one click in any email, and you can ask us to delete everything we hold about you at any time.
Our readers include analysts, investors and professionals in government and industry. We treat the confidentiality of our subscriber list as a security matter, not just a legal one.
This Privacy Policy applies to Defense Briefing ("we," "our" or "us"), an independent defense, aerospace and space economy intelligence publication. It covers our websites at defensebriefing.co and confirmed.defensebriefing.co, our email newsletter (the "Transmissions") and any related services (together, the "Services").

We do not collect and do not want sensitive personal information such as health, biometric or precise location data. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and if we learn we have, we will delete it.
You are only added to our active list after a two-step confirmation. When you sign up, we create a pending record and send a confirmation email with a secure single-use token. Only after you click that link does your subscription become active. Unconfirmed records are retained briefly for anti-abuse purposes and then purged.
We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
We use a small number of infrastructure providers who process data on our instructions and are contractually barred from using it for their own purposes:

If you interact with us on Instagram, X or Facebook (for example commenting a keyword to receive a link by direct message), those platforms process your data under their own privacy policies. Any automated direct-message tools we use operate through the platforms' official interfaces; we receive only what you send us.
Some articles may contain affiliate links, disclosed clearly and conspicuously in line with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines. Clicking an affiliate link takes you to a third party governed by its own privacy policy; we receive no personal information from the affiliate beyond aggregate conversion data.
We may disclose personal information if required by law, subpoena or court order; to protect the rights, property or safety of Defense Briefing, our readers or others; or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this Policy will continue to apply and you will be notified of any material change.
No internet transmission is ever completely secure. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify affected subscribers and regulators as required by applicable law, and we will do it fast and plainly, consistent with how we issue editorial corrections.
We keep subscriber records while your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, we retain your address on a suppression list solely to honor your opt-out, as United States law expects. Unconfirmed signups are purged on a rolling basis. Send and delivery logs are kept for operational and compliance purposes and then deleted or anonymized. Aggregated statistics that identify no one may be retained indefinitely. You may request full deletion at any time (see Section 10).
Unsubscribe: every email we send contains a working one-click unsubscribe link, honored immediately, in line with the CAN-SPAM Act.
Access, correction, deletion and portability: regardless of where you live, you may email privacy@defensebriefing.co to ask what information we hold about you, correct it, receive a copy in a portable format or have it deleted. We answer within 30 days and will verify the request came from the email address on file. We extend these rights to all readers voluntarily, whether or not a state or national privacy law grants them to you.
California residents: the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended, grants rights to know, delete, correct and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, with no discrimination for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines those terms, so there is nothing to opt out of; the remaining rights are honored through the contact above.
Nevada residents: we do not sell covered information as defined by Nevada law. You may still register a do-not-sell preference at the contact above.
Readers in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom: Defense Briefing is a United States publication and your data is processed in the United States. Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, our lawful bases are consent (you subscribed through double opt-in and may withdraw at any time) and legitimate interest (operating and securing the Services). You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection through the contact above, and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
Do Not Track and opt-out signals: because we do not track you across other websites or sell data, browser signals such as Global Privacy Control require no action from us; there is no sale or sharing to opt out of.
Our websites are static publications and use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Any cookies or local storage we set are strictly functional (for example remembering a dismissed notice). If we adopt privacy-respecting analytics in the future, we will update this Policy and describe exactly what is measured.
We understand that many of our readers work in or around national security. Subscriber lists of defense publications are themselves targets. That is why we self-host our subscriber database, keep the vendor surface small, gate the send infrastructure and refuse list sharing categorically. Subscribing to Defense Briefing places your email address in exactly one place: our encrypted database. Reading the briefing requires nothing but an inbox.
When we change this Policy, we will update the date at the top and summarize what changed. For material changes we will notify active subscribers by email before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
